Young people shouldn’t have to figure out their future alone.

RueCoaching helps young people understand themselves, explore what is possible, and build the confidence and skills to make better choices about education, career and the future.

What is RueCoaching?

RueCoaching is EcoRue’s youth development initiative focused on career exploration, mentorship, and capacity building.

We create space for young people to understand themselves, explore different possibilities, ask better questions about their future, and develop practical skills that help them move forward with greater confidence and direction.

The goal is not to tell a young person what career to choose.

It is to help them discover more about who they are, what they are capable of, and what possibilities may be open to them.

Helping Kids Discover, Dream, and Do

Why RueCoaching?

Young people are often expected to make important decisions about school, university, and work before they have had enough opportunity to explore.

Some have never spoken to someone working in the careers they are considering.

Some know what subjects they enjoy but do not know where those interests could lead.

Others simply need someone to help them slow down, ask the right questions, and make sense of the options in front of them.

RueCoaching exists to make that exploration easier.

The Goal

We want to build a community where young people can access mentors, professionals, practical learning experiences, career exposure and opportunities to develop skills before important decisions have to be made.

→ Become a MENTOR

How to Get Involved

Over time, the goal is to make more of these opportunities freely accessible through support from EcoRue, mentors, partners and people who believe in helping young people discover how far they can go.

→ Support RueCoaching

Group Workshops

Career exploration and capacity-building sessions for schools, youth groups, community organizations and other groups. Sessions can be adapted around self-discovery, career exploration, STEM, future skills, confidence, goal-setting and learning from people working in different professions.

Meet Ruth

Hi, I’m Ruth, founder of EcoRue and RueCoaching, and a mechanical engineer by training.

I grew up in Kenya, studied Mechanical Engineering, and later moved to South Korea, where I completed my PhD and spent more than eight years working in advanced materials research.

My career has taken me through engineering, research, AI-enabled materials discovery, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and mentoring. Along the way, I have published more than 20 peer-reviewed research papers and co-authored three scientific books.

But one thing I have become increasingly interested in is what happens before a young person chooses a career.

Many young people are expected to make important decisions about school, university, and work before they have had enough opportunity to understand themselves, meet people doing different kinds of work, or explore what is actually possible.

RueCoaching grew from wanting to create more room for that exploration.

I want young people to be able to ask questions, try things, meet mentors, discover what they are good at, change their minds when necessary, and gradually build a future that feels like their own.
